The New York Islanders and Matt Moulson have agreed to terms on a three-year deal securing the left-winger through the 2013-2014 season.
Moulson, 27, is in his second season with the Islanders and enjoyed a successful first season leading the team in goals (30) while setting career highs in goals (30), assists (18), points (48) and games played (82). Originally selected by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft, Moulson began his professional career with the American Hockey League affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings, the Manchester Monarchs. During his three years in the Los Angeles organization, the left wing split time between the Monarchs and the Kings, scoring six goals and four assists in 29 games during his brief stints in the NHL. Moulson then joined the Islanders as a free agent in the summer of 2009. In college, the North York, Ontario native skated for the Cornell University Big Red tallying a career 138 points in four years. To date, Moulson has not missed a game since joining the Islanders, playing in 131 consecutive games. He is also currently leading the team with 29 points (17 goals, 12 assists). |
